Advising European institutions on how to best support upstream space businesses
Duration
Nov 2022 - Jun 2023

The ESA-EIB Investment Report is an in-depth study on the funding needs of the upstream space market. The Report is part of an ongoing collaboration between the European Space Agency (ESA) and the European Investment Bank (EIB) that aims to:

  • Raise awareness among investors about space’s potential for being a driver of innovation and growth
  • Increase investment in the European space sector
  • Support space sector actors that show promise for short- or medium-term growth
  • Improve access to finance for space projects

To enable informed decision making in Europe and guide future actions and initiatives by ESA, EIB and other public actors, this pilot study investigated investment needs and funding gaps among European companies in select upstream space segments.

Evenflow’s role

Evenflow conducted a comprehensive analysis on the key areas of upstream space innovation, available funding and investment opportunities, and the investment and funding needs of growth-oriented European upstream space companies. This analysis was based on:

  • Extensive desk research that identified relevant companies and looked at the latest market developments and technology trends
  • A large-scale survey and interviews with top executives of relevant companies to collect data on investment patterns and barriers to growth
