Promoting EO for Development
Duration
May 2023 - May 2027

In November 2019, the European Space Agency (ESA) launched a programme called Global Development Assistance (GDA). GDA is a global partnership aimed at generating impact by integrating the use of satellite Earth Observation (EO) into international development assistance operations.

GDA is implemented under the cooperation framework of Space for International Development Assistance (Space for IDA) along with ESA’s institutional partners: the World Bank Group (WB) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Over $100 million have been successfully allocated to the mainstreaming of EO in operational development activities from both space and development finance resources.

The GDA programme is comprised of a number of interrelated elements, but the core of the programme is the development of Earth Observation services, tailored to the needs of specific thematic aspects. The areas include Disaster Resilience, Climate Resilience, Marine and Agriculture, and they are all related to operations in the field of development.

The impact and visibility of the GDA programme is promoted through a suite of communication activities which cut across the thematic areas. Evenflow is leading the execution of these tasks, in partnership with GOPA and Vizzuality.

Evenflow’s role

As leader of the contract implementing the cross-cutting communication activities, Evenflow is managing the production of several communication tools and promotional materials. The aim is to strengthen the programme’s branding, notability, and effect through the production of targeted messages and stories. Other tasks within the contract include providing strategic advocacy and organising competitive story generation events.
