The InCASE (In-Situ Showcases) project looked at how GEO data management principles can be applied specifically to in-situ data to support European environmental monitoring activities, especially around climate adaptation policies. The project focused on a series of showcases, covering Losses and damages by climate extremes, Hazards and vulnerabilities to a changing climate, and Ecosystems relevant to carbon sequestration. For each showcase, data needs are specified and data sets inventoried, with follow up activities are identified to promote availability of the data.
The project is continuing as GEO-IDEA, aiming to benefit from closer synergies and collaboration with Copernicus In-Situ services.
Evenflow coordinated the InCASE (In Situ Showcases) project, demonstrating how better access to and sharing of in situ data can support European environmental monitoring and climate adaptation policies. By applying the GEO Data Sharing and Management principles, the project develops thematic showcases, improves data interoperability and quality, and promotes best practices for in situ data sharing. InCASE supports EuroGEO and aligns with key EU initiatives such as Copernicus, the Green Deal Data Space, and Destination Earth.
