GEO-IDEA explores how the Group on Earth Observations (GEO) Data Sharing and Data Management Principles can be applied to in-situ Earth observation data to support European environmental monitoring, with a focus on climate change adaptation.
The project supports the European Environment Agency (EEA) by providing expertise in geospatial data management and strengthening links with EU environmental and climate activities and GEO initiatives.
It delivers practical showcases, including analysis of EU-funded research projects and their FAIR alignment, comparison of climate and disaster data reporting frameworks, and development of a methodology to capture user needs and match them with available in-situ data.
GEO-IDEA builds on the legacy of the InCASE project (InCASE - Evenflow) and complements its sister project COP-IDEA (link to COP-IDEA entry), supporting the in-situ component of the Copernicus Programme.
Evenflow provides technical leadership and acts as the technical liaison with the client, drives the project’s strategic guidance, leads GEO-related activities on in-situ data and Data Management Principles, manages the FAIRness showcase on EU-funded R&I projects, and supports the implementation of other key project showcases.
