European Commission’s Mainstreaming Equality in the Space Sector initiative aimed to strengthen equality and inclusion across the European space and defence ecosystem, supporting and aligning with the European Commission's Gender Equality Strategy. The activity established baseline demographic data, assessed good practices and provided a series recommendations to help public and private organisations operating in the space and defence sectors better embed equality principles in organisational policies, programmes, and outreach efforts within the space and defence sectors. Six inequality dimensions were analysed, including sex, race/ethnic origin, age, disability, sexual orientation and religious belief. The results highlighted key challenges and opportunities, aiming to drive lasting change. The analytical framework developed could be used to monitor future evolution and to coordinate further actions by various stakeholders.
