The European Commission’s Directorate General for Defence Industry and Space (DG DEFIS) leads the European Commission’s activities in the European defence industry and European space sectors. In this role, DG DEFIS is responsible for developing the European space policy and the policy aspects related to its space programmes, including market uptake. Through the 4-year framework contract, DG DEFIS sought support in relation to policy and strategy definition (incl. impact assessments, technical studies, cost-benefit analyses), awareness raising, and legal and legislative processes.
As part of a consortium led by VVA Brussels (subsequently acquired by EY), Evenflow contributed to or led a variety of tasks supporting policy formulation, market uptake, impact assessment and technical analyses connected to the EU Space Programme. In practice, we have led the Earth Observation component across a number of specific contracts and assignments. Most notable among them was the comprehensive analysis of opportunities and barriers for the uptake of EU space services which served as key input for the Commission’s Staff Working Document on the EU Space Programme User Uptake Status.
